The Campaign Casa nostra, casa vostra calls for a great lighting of candles in Barcelona on Saturday

The campaign Casa nostra, casa vostra commemorates this saturday the International Day of Human Rights with a sensitivisation and street participation day, which will be held at the Plaça Universitat of Barcelona.

The action is called "Donem llum als drets humans" (Let's enlighten human rights) and will finish at 18:30 with a light mosaic representation with the campaign logo. In order to make the drawing, hundreds of candles will be needed, which shall be gathered during this day. Thus, the organisation calls citizens to assist at the demonstration and to take their candles in order to light them throughout the whole action.

This demonstration wants to "demand human rights as they are constantly and sistematically violated regarding both refugees as well as migrants, breaking international law outrageously".

From 11h on, Plaça Universitat will have an educational space, stands of entities that support the campaign and a spot with audiovisual projections. Throughout the day, artistic, cultural and demanda activities will be carried out.

Week of actions for the right to migrate

The day “Donem llum als drets humans” sets the beginning of the Week of Actions for the Right to Migrate, which will finish on Saturday 17th with the celebration of the International Day of the Migrated People. For this day, a human chain with torches is being prepared. This human chain will go from Plaça Universitat to Plaça de Sant Jaume in Barcelona.

Throughout the whole week, organisations that support the campaign Casa nostra, casa vostra have organised mobilisation and sensitization activities. Stop Mare Mortum and Lafede.cat are preparing the Trobada Mediterrània Deconstruïm l’Europa Fortalesa for Thursday 15th and Friday 16th, which will bring to Barcelona representatives from groups in Mali, Niger, Turkey, Greece, France and Italy. Crida LGBTI organises debates abouth human rights and migrations on tuesday 13th and Friday 16th. In addition, Stop Mare Mortum organises a concert of Oriol Barri and La Sra. Tomasa on Saturday 17th at the Casal de Joves del Coll (Barcelona).

All activities will be explained at www.casanostracasavostra.cat
